ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
It is unlikely that my autobiography would have progressed beyond the hand-written manuscript I began many years ago had it not been for the wholehearted assistance, advice and encouragement I received from so many people who have helped me to complete it.
First of all I am indebted to Ruth Kerry, who painstakingly typed the hand-written manuscript, and to her husband Brian, who did the proof reading, grammar and punctuation corrections, helped me to re-write difficult passages and finally produced the first bound copy. Thank you both.
Thanks must also go to Guy Craven and his wife Pat for their help and photographic contributions, and for being my friends of long standing.
Special mention must be made of my dear wife Yvonne for her devotion to me, and endearing understanding of me. Thank you dear.
To my son Simon I give my thanks for his encouragement and sympathy in my time of need, caring for me when I was sick and for just being there.
And to those I may not have included here, who also gave their generous help and support, I thank you now; and thank you all of you who helped me anyway by just being my dear friends including: George and Margaret Eastwood, Dave Eastwood, John Potter, Darren and Debby Linsdell, John and Amanda Saxby, John Howard, Patrick Parsons, Grant Smith and Grant Tyrer.
