I remember the first skateboard came to Malmesbury in 1975 with the Healy family who returned to the UK from a few years in Australia. For 33 years Malmesbury has been waiting for a skateboard park, now eventually they have this one piece down at the youth club where its locked away behind railings through the summer holidays, available for use by a few for a couple of hours an evening on youth club nights. Then suddenly it was gone again. Apparently it was too noisy, yet right next to it is a football pitch with three matches a week creating a hundred times as much noise. Wow what splendid progress, a life-time and you missed it as did six generations of Malmesbury teenagers. Alas the three Healy boys are all now dead, disillusioned with our town council and life they opted out.
